Shoebury Hall was built in 1920,  before that the meetings were held in a house in John Street.  Converts were baptised off the beach in the Thames. There were over a hundred members including several railway men and soldiers from the nearby barracks. Ond member Mr May carried a folding organ on his motor car and conducted outdoor services. The rest of the team cycled to the meeting place.  There was a thriving Sunday School.
