1900 the Plymouth Brethren transferred  from York House in the High Street, to a hall in Coleman Street.  By 1906 the building was extended by 30 feet.and a rear vestry built with a room above for the Sunday School. The main hall seated 300 people, the vestry held 100 as did the front gallery.  Before Coleman Street was opened baptisms took place in Absolom’s floating Baths, off the sea front.  The new buiding included a baptisty. The members took open air meeting on the seafront and in Happy Valley on the Cliffs.
